Since April 2012 Air Transat has been updating their Airbus A330 fleet with comfortable additions ranging from wider seats, à la carte entertainment via individual touch screens to day-to-night LED-based mood lighting. These additions come just as the airline recently announced its summer lineup of European destinations, with direct flights to 28 destinations in 12 countries.
With many of these new destinations finding travellers crossing one or more time zones, the addition of day-to-night LED mood lighting comes as a welcomed extra, as it helps travellers fight the nasty effects of jetlag. READ MORE

It’s hard not to be fascinated with musician, actor, and icon David Bowie. Now 66, the UK-born performer is back in the spotlight, not only for the upcoming release of a new album entitled, “Where Are We Now?” due out this month, but the Victoria & Albert Museum is set to launch a retrospective on Bowie’s impressive career.
Running from March 23 – August 11, 2013, David Bowie is, has been curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, who have selected more than 300 pieces, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, music videos, set designs and Bowie’s own instruments.
As Bowie fans know, the musician has collaborated with many different artists throughout his career and this exhibition will showcase just that. Highlights include his Ziggy Stardust suits designed by Freddie Burretti, album sleeve artwork by Guy Peellaert and Edward Bell, and set designs created for his Diamond Dogs tour. READ MORE

Why checkout when you could lounge in bed a few more hours, another night or even another week? Sounds like a dream, right? It’s not. Melbourne’s Art Series Hotels are making it a reality for its guests with their new Overstay Checkout program.
The hotel asks some of the very questions we have found ourselves pondering, “Why do hotels make you check out at 11am if the next guest’s not arriving till 6pm? What if no one’s booked in for the next night? Why do you have to check out at all?”
Their solution: if no one checks into that room, you don’t have to check out.

Feeling lucky? This Thursday, Virgin Airlines will be giving out five Swarovski crystal-encrusted eye masks found in the amenity kits handed out in the economy section of five different flights.
The sparkly eye masks are designed with more than 3,000 red, white, and blue Swarovski crystals, all hand-applied by artist Saima Anwar (each took 10 hours), who has done crystal eyelashes for celebrities including Katy Perry.
This swanky giveaway is tied into Virgin Airlines recent introduction of their new complimentary in-flight amenity kits for its economy, premium economy and first-class passengers on September 1. READ MORE

On August 8, Virgin America‘s fifth anniversary, the airline’s entire crew from pilots to flight attendants will debut their sleek and modern uniforms designed by Banana Republic. The retailer, who is no stranger to brand collaborations (this past spring they designed a Mad Men-inspired collection and recently announced an Anna Karenina-inspired collection due out late October), created a utility-chic line of clothing, which includes black basics with red and purple accessories, sophisticated scarves, a red trench and leather jacket. The Caribbean’s oldest luxury hotel, The Crane Residential Resort is celebrating a major milestone this year — 125 years! To mark this, as well as their multi-million dollar restoration, the resort is offering 365 of events, festivals and specials starting now until April 2013.
Located in beautiful Barbados, this beachside retreat has been a popular hideaway for generations of guests looking to enjoy low-key elegance steps away from the pink powdery sand of Crane Beach. The restoration of the resort include the 55,000 square-foot Crane Village, a guest pavilion which includes a dining, shopping, entertainment, and health and wellness centre.
