Our philosophy for travelling in style is simple — comfort and versatility. This however, doesn’t mean stretchy pants you plan on doing yoga in. We’re talking about a great jacket you can use throughout your trip or a pair of flats that are comfortable enough to wear wandering the city. For long-haul flights we tend to veer towards looser pieces — such as a sweater dress over leggings — but for 5 hours or less a proper pair of trousers will do just fine (just avoid linen or silk so you don’t look like you forgot to take out the iron).
In the first of a new high/low series, we’ve decided to take one look and show you it two ways — one head-to-toe designer and the second, affordable options that are not only stylish, but won’t break your travel bank. So whether you decide to add a designer piece or two into your look or stay budget-friendly, you’ve got options. READ MORE

We’ve had the pleasure of working with PR pro Samantha Diamond over the years, first when she was Global Communications for M.A.C. Cosmetics and now as the Principal of ROI Relations, a lifestyle PR agency she co-owns with Delphine Nicholls (stay tuned for her post!).
Samantha is no stranger to style, with beauty and fashion clients including Maybelline New York, Nine West, Garnier and Biotherm. Though she tells us she’s the most “un-glamorous frequent flyer,” we beg to differ. The newlywed shares with us her recent honeymoon trip to Tanzania, one of her favourite places to shop, and where she’s off to next.

We love the summer because it’s always the time of year that we’re always on the go — whether it’s travelling up to the cottage or for a girls weekend getaway — we’re hankering to escape the heat of the city. When it comes to our summer travel wardrobe, sunglasses are at the top of our must-pack list. The best part is it’s one of those accessories you don’t have to spend a fortune on — although it’s nice to have a classic splurge pair you can count on. For this summer it’s all about unique shapes — retro-inspired looks like the cat-eye, to oversized shades with colourful frames — no shape is off limits. We found 6 different sunglasses we think you’ll want to include try wearing this summer. READ MORE

We aren’t oblivious to the fact that it’s not just us women who want to look put together travelling, so we thought it was time we dedicated a post to men who are in search of style inspiration. It only made sense for us to turn our attention to one of the best dressed men in Hollywood, Ryan Gosling, who always manages to look effortless whether it’s on the red carpet or walking through the airport. Like Ryan, we’re fans of men who can look good on the go and the reality is it’s not as hard as it looks. We find 9 travel essentials for the stylish guy. READ MORE

With spring full steam ahead (the weather might be lagging just a bit), we thought it was the perfect time to launch a new monthly feature in which we showcase products, hotels, exhibits, festivals — really anything we’re currently coveting that we think you’d like to know about. Thankfully there is plenty to get excited about this April. Between the recently launched Tom Ford perfume to the newly opened The NoMad Hotel in New York City, this month is looking pretty hot.
The NoMad Hotel, New York City
Officially opening its doors April 1, you can find this 168-room luxury hotel on the corner of Broadway, just north of Madison Square Park. The interiors have been done by French designer Jacques Garcia, which were inspired by the Parisian flat of his youth. The feel is very residential, but you’ll discover plush amenities including Argan bath amenities by Côté Bastide, linens and bathrobes from Sferra and Frette, complimentary WiFi throughout and laptops and iPads available to borrow on request. Thankfully you won’t have to travel far to get a great meal, as the hotel is home to five different dining spaces with the food and beverage overlooked by acclaimed Chef-Partner Daniel Humm. We’re particularly excited to check out the Library, which becomes an evening cocktail destination. Reserve now because opening rates are starting at $295/room. READ MORE

Yesterday we rounded up our must-visit film festivals, which included South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. In addition to having a film fest, SXSW also has a 6-day music festival and conference featuring about 2,000 musical acts from all genres that perform on more than 90 stages throughout the city’s downtown. Artists like Fiona Apple, Norah Jones and John Mayer, and bands like Kasabian and Metro will be performing this year. Keeping in mind Austin’s sunny and hot (with temperatures around 27 degrees), we pull some must-have pieces to beat the heat and stay stylish. READ MORE

This past fall we headed West to explore the Golden State of California. Our adventure included a quick overnight stop in Napa Valley, which we quickly fell in love with. Rolling hills, rows upon rows of vineyards and a beating hot sun — it was the perfect backdrop for a bike tour. Napa is truly a must-visit destination for wine lovers. Even if you’re not into the vino, it’s a hot-spot for foodies too. We however, are fans of the grape and had to do some wine tasting. Our mode of transportation was the bike, which is a really fun way to see the area, but we’ll be honest — next time we might opt for a car mainly to cover more territory. Whether you take Napa in slowly by bike or with the top down in a convertible, we put together appropriate outfits for each scenario. READ MORE

Maybe it’s the fact we’re off to Anguilla next week or we’re craving a warm weather escape, but whatever the case, we’ve been dreaming of what to pack for a beach vacation. We drew our inspiration from the bold shades and prints we saw dominating the Resort 2012 collections, choosing fun, yet chic accessories that you’ll definitely want to include in your luggage. Running from July 8 – July 17, is Canada’s Calgary Stampede, known as the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” This massive outdoor festival features a rodeo, parade, concerts, agricultural competitions and even chuckwagon racing. Most recently the royals Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, stopped in during their 9-day Canadian tour and went all out donning traditional cowboy gear — hats and all. If you’re planning on making a visit, don’t think you need to go all out (although you’ll definitely blend in). We suggest adding some pops of colour with a bright blouse, going hands-free with a crossbody bag, accessorizing with a hot pair of shades and with the temperatures soaring you’ll definitely want to opt for denim shorts.
Belstaff Barkmaster Leather Boots, $550
These toffee leather boots from Belstaff work perfectly with denim and add an edge to a cute dress. Plus they’ll easily make the transition into your fall wardrobe. Available at net-a-porter.com.
Equipment Signature Blouse, $208
Make a statement with a bright blouse. We love this Poppy-hued top by Equipment, which can easily be dressed up or down. In this case, we’re totally seeing it tucked into a pair of denim shorts. Available at shopbop.com.
Joe's Jeans Rolled Shorts, $98
Keep your bottoms simple with a pair of dark washed denim jeans, like these from Joe’s Jeans. That way if you’re sitting on the grass watching A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Shakespeare in the Park, you won’t be stressing about grass stains. Available at shopbop.com. READ MORE
