6 Watches We Want Now

by Stephanie on November 11, 2010

If you’re not already a watch person, we promise you’ll change your mind after seeing these six stylish versions. We love a gold chunky men’s-inspired piece or a sleek classic style to accessorize an outfit — plus it’s completely practical. The reality is when you’re travelling (unless you’re on a beach and the only clock you care about is the sun), timing can be the difference between missing an important dinner reservation and getting room service. And let’s not forget the airport. Yes, there’s always your cell phone to check the time, but a watch is also a great accessory and one that’s worth the investment considering you’ll probably wear it almost every day. Here are six we love.

Michael Kors Rose Golden Chronograph Watch, $250

Michael Kors Rose Golden Chronograph Watch, $250

You can’t go wrong with a Michael Kors watch. There are so many versions we love, but this rose gold one caught our eye. It’s a pretty alternative to plain gold.

Nixon The Ceramic 42-20 Watch, $500

Nixon The Ceramic 42-20 Watch, $500

Swiss-made, a white ceramic watch is super classic and will take you from season to season. Less dressier than gold, it’s a perfect day option. Available at net-a-porter.com.

Freelook Oversized Watch, $250

1 Sweater, 12 Ways

by Jennifer on October 24, 2010

DKNY CozyWe’re definitely fans of the cozy cardigan for travelling. Nothing seems to compare to wrapping yourself up with one on a chilly over night flight, and it’s also the perfect layering piece. Our current fave? DKNY’s Cozy — a multi-purpose cardi/wrap that is made from a super soft cashmere silk blend. Not sold yet? How about the amazing cut and shape that allows you to wear the wrap in 12 different styles? Depending on how you tie it, wrap it or belt it, you can make multiple outfits with this one luxe item. Check out the DKNY website for the different looks. We’re partial to the smoky grey and deep purple shades. So the nearly $200 price tag seems like pennies when you think of how much use you will get out of this piece. And think of all the space you’ll save in your suitcase … so you can fit in more shoes, of course.

by Stephanie on September 15, 2010

PinkyOttoExterior Shop We Love: PinkyottoWhile in Boston strolling along Newbury Street, we found a shop we absolutely adored — Pinkyotto. The shop was jam-packed with stylish women browsing through the hundreds of dresses hanging on the racks. As soon as we starting perusing ourselves, we kept finding dress after dress we immediately wanted. Colourful fabrics in all shades, from black and white to bright pink, in a variety of silhouettes were to be found. Aside from solid hues, patterned frocks in polka dots, stripes, floral and animal prints are just a taste of what they offer. READ MORE

APCCardigan 6 Cozy Cardigans to Travel With

APC Merino Wool Belted Cardigan

We like to think of cardigans as being a seasonless addition to your travel wardrobe. Cool airplanes, indoor airconditioning  and the chills that come with being overtired, calls for a cozy coverup (and a scarf too). We’ve found 6 cardigans perfect for layering over a cotton tee with your favourite pair of jeans or leggings. Throw on a pair of shades and flats and you’ve got yourself the perfect travel outfit. Plus these cute cardigans are easily wearable on a crisp fall day.

1.  APC Merino Wool Belted Cardigan, $340, net-a-porter.com
This midnight-blue three-quarter length sleeves cardigan is a nice light option, yet thanks to the fabric will keep you warm without the bulk.

2. J.Crew Abbraccio Cardigan, $298, jcrew.com
Dropped shoulders, an oversized shawl collar, long sleeves and a hip length make this the ultra-comfy travel sweater. We love the oliver shimmer shade too.

Daria Sleeve

Daria Sleeve

When it comes to toting around your travel essentials – we’re talking laptops, passports, travel docs, credit cards, etc, — style and function are top requirements. One line we think that perfectly accomplishes this is the luxury English brand Mulberry. We love what Creative Director Emma Hill has done since taking the helm in 2008. Besides creating the iconic Alexa bag after model and girl-about-town Alexa Chung, she also designed the Daria line of bags, which is on our fall list of must-haves. READ MORE

Shop We Love: Teeny Weeny Bikini

Teeny Weeny Bikini is just off Hwy 141 in the village of Rosseau

We can’t think of anything better than escaping the heat of the city and heading up north for some true R&R. One of our favourite places is Muskoka, which we fell in love with long before its celebrity cottagers put this northern Ontario destination on the map about 10 years ago. On Lake Rosseau you’ll find the likes of Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Martin Short, and Lisa Rinna who all own property, while many of their famous friends have come to stay including Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Cindy Crawford.

Aside from the celebrity-gazing, Muskoka has a lot to offer including an adorable shop you must stop into if you pass through the village of Rosseau. Started in 2005 by Ashley Eady, Teeny Weeny Bikini has expanded from what was once an itsy-bitsy cabin into what is now a 10 X 16 ft boutique selling everything from her original bathing suits to vintage home goods, quirky accessories and other Canadian designers clothing.
